IT WAS a week to remember for young Dunfermline Cub Harry Sinclair after he scooped two prestigious awards.

As well as being named a Little Champion at the Dunfermline Press and Central Fife Times' Community Champions Awards, the 10 year-old was presented with a Commissioner’s Commendation Award while at a joint 44th Fife Scout Group and Guide camp.

At the age of five, Harry was diagnosed with leukaemia and, while in hospital, the youngster and his family were supported by the charity “It’s Good to Give”.

His older sister Grace, who is a Guide, was so impressed by the charity that she decided to start fundraising for them.

Beaver leaders arranged a “Beaverthon” in which Beavers, leaders and parent helpers completed a course and raised over £2,000.

The siblings have now raised over £25,000 to help families going through what they did.

Cub scout leader Kathleen Williamson said: "Both Harry and Grace have inspired everyone with their bravery and fundraising to help other families cope with cancer.

"They became young ambassadors for the charity and were awarded Child of Courage in the Pride of Scotland Awards! Our scout group was so very proud of Harry that we nominated him for this award!"

Harry received his award at the camp – which took place at the Crook of Devon – from District Commissioner Alan Davidson.
