A FINAL service will be held at the Townhill and Kingseat churches after the completion of their merger with St Andrew's Erskine.
While all three are now united and have formed a new congregation of Dunfermline St. Columba’s, with the main worship centre to be the building on Robertson Road, the churches have continued to hold services through the transition period.
The last regular services will take place on Sunday, June 30 at 9.45am in Kingseat, and 11am in Townhill.
The intention is to keep using the buildings for other purposes while arrangements proceed for their disposal.
During the last week in June, visitors to both churches will be welcome for extended periods to allow for reflection on the loss of the buildings.
Kingseat will be open from 2-3pm from Monday, June 24 to 29, while Townhill will be open 2-5pm, Monday, June 24 to 28.
A “Memories of Townhill Church” album can be accessed via the St. Columba’s Facebook page.
Photographs and other items of memorabilia will be on display for visitors to see during the opening times in late June.
The locum minister Reverend Arthur Christie and office-bearers for the new congregation wish to ensure that the proud tradition of Christian witness and service in the local area is continued in all parts of the extended parish.
As this significant stage is reached, they’re keen to encourage those from the wider community to share some time and memories with them.
