Dunfermline 'predator' is sent to prison for four months

Paedophile Raymond Thomson sent a photo of his penis to a shocked 14-year-old girl when she was on her school bus.

Last July, a sheriff slammed his “disgusting predatory activities” but then decided against a jail sentence.

Thomson, 35, of Mackie Place, was given a community sentence with unpaid work but failed to complete it.

As a result, he appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and admitted breaching the order.

This time, he was jailed for four months by Sheriff Allan Findlay.

Thomson previously admitted that on August 30, 2022 he sent via social media photographs of himself in his underwear and of his naked penis to a 14-year-old girl.

At the original sentencing, Sheriff Gordon Liddle told Thomson: “You’re a predator. You prey on young girls. To put it bluntly you deserve to go to prison.”

Instead, he imposed a community payback order with 160 hours of unpaid work and 18 months’ supervision.

The court was told that the girl was using Snapchat at around 8am when she started receiving messages from a new profile ‘Babynappiesyou’, which was Thomson.

She was leaving for school and Thomson sent a photo of himself.

The girl thought she recognised him as a worker in a local shop.

Shortly afterwards she received another photo from him, this time he was lying on a bed with just his boxer shorts on.

On the school bus, she received a photo of his naked penis.

She responded: “WTF dude, I’m 14.”

Thomson claimed he was 16 then changed his story saying he was 13.

The girl sent him a message saying she thought he was about 40 as she recognised him as a worker in a local shop.

When she arrived at school, she told a teacher what had happened and the police were contacted.

The depute added: “The girl was so scared that she wouldn’t leave the school building at lunch time.”

Defence solicitor David McLaughlin said his client “has learning difficulties” and his behaviour took a downturn at the time of Covid.
