REVELLERS will be able to dance the day away at a charity event in Dalgety Bay.

Tequila Twist's PM Groove will be held at the town's sailing club on Saturday, July 6 offering an eclectic mix of music from "across the universe".

It comes 35 years after its organisers put on its last charity rave night which took place in the then Captain Jack's in Inverkeithing.

Chris Evans, who is one of those involved in the fundraiser, explained: "The last one was a night time thing.

"We did a charity event for a local cause and it was at the height of the rave scene. Nothing like that had been done locally in Fife.

"We created projections and backdrops and it was proper smoke machines.

"We did one charity one and a couple of others around West Fife. They didn't do anything more and have not done anything for a number of years.

"Now, 35 years later, we are running another charity event in aid of Ovarian Cancer Research which has affected our family in recent times."

Acknowledging that years have gone by since their last one, Chris said they were keen to put on something which fitted into their current lifestyle.

"These days, I don't want to be out all night – I would rather be in the house watching TV," he said.

"I am in my late 50s and I read a piece with Vicky McClure (Line of Duty actress) who had an idea to do something similar. I went to one with my wife and it was absolutely rammed with people of a similar age having a great old time of it.

"So it is during the day. It is 3pm until 8pm. It will finish when it is still daylight and you can still be in bed at 9pm if you want to. I thought this was a good excuse to bring it back."

With different relatives all chipping in, Chris said the event organising is a family affair.

"Everyone is helping out," he added. "Everyone has their own jobs to do. We are doing video projections again. We are looking forward to it and are as excited as when we did it 35 years ago.

"People don't know what they are going to get. The music is from across the universe. It is all music. It is British, it is American, it is a bit of everything. All the money after costs is going to the charity."
