With summer now well and truly here you might be looking for a nice spot to set up a picnic.

We have put together a guide on some of the best places to enjoy your favourite foods outdoors in the Kingdom.

From parks with peacocks to seaside towns, West Fife has plenty of great spots on offer.

1.      Pittencrieff Park

Situated in the heart of the city of Dunfermline, Pittencrieff Park is the ideal spot for a picnic. The park has 76 acres for you to explore, and there’s plenty to see once you’ve had your picnic.

2.      Preston Island

This former artificial island in the Firth of Forth, the reclaimed land is part of the Torry Bay nature reserve. There are a couple of viewing hides around the bay as the area is a haven for wintering birds.

You can access Preston Island by walking from Culross, and there’s plenty of old buildings to explore after you’ve had your lunch.

3.      Silver Sands Beach, Aberdour

One of the most popular resorts on the Fife coast, Silver Sands beach is an ideal spot for setting up a picnic with your children on a sunny day.

There is also a beachfront café, toilets, and a dog exercise area.

4.      Townhill Country Park

The perfect spot for a scenic stroll after a picnic, Townhill Country Park has a loch and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy either on foot or on bike. Water skiing also takes place on the loch and there’s a café that does afternoon teas and other goodies!

5.      Valleyfield Woodland Park

Last but not least, Valleyfield Woodland Park is a well-used wood and garden area. Visitors to the area might even spot a roe deer during their picnic if they are lucky!
