DUNFERMLINE's very own Wonder Woman is gearing up for her toughest challenge yet.

Carol-Ann Fraser, who moonlights as the Princess of Themyscira, is set to take on her first-ever marathon this Saturday (July 6) for charity at The Sunset Running Festival in Edinburgh.

She told the Press: "I’m raising money for a charity called Held in our Hearts, which is a baby loss counselling charity. I put it on my page and there's so many people who have gone through this trauma and have been like ‘I’ve never heard of it.’

"I heard about it through a friend, I did a co-relay last year with someone who had lost their baby last year.

"I’ve been very fortunate and I've never had to experience anything like that and she just captured my heart.

"I just thought, if you’ve got the strength and the determination and resilience to get through something like that then I can run 26 miles."

Cool under pressure Carol-Ann, who has jumped out of planes and abseiled, has said that this is the one she is most nervous for.

She continued: "I decided in January that I wanted a challenge this year having done my skydive, my half marathon and my abseil so I decided in the middle of February that I would give a marathon a shot. So this is my first, and probably my last!

"It’s been very hard emotionally, physically and mentally, it has been very hard. I’ve had tears, I've been going to give up and I've been feeling like a failure so it’s been hard but I keep saying to myself ‘I’m doing it for the charity, and to show my girls that actually, you can do anything if you put your mind to it.’

"This one has definitely had the hardest impact on me, this is the one that I've been most scared about.

"I’ll happily go and jump out of a plane tomorrow and it won't bother me. This has been the most trying."

So far, Carol-Ann has raised £355 for the charity but she's hoping to raise more funds, and equally important, awareness.

She hopes by bringing the charity to the attention of her community, more people will get the help that they need.

When asked what she would say to anyone experiencing baby loss, she said: "They’re strong people and that support is there to help them get through it.

"I’d tell them not to be scared 'cause they’re not alone, unfortunately, they’re not alone."
