A WELLNESS event was held at Aberdour's Silver Sands to raise money for the Cookie Jar Foundation.

Organised by Amy Solon of Elements Hypnotherapy and Wellbeing, she collaborated with different wellness businesses to host an evening of yoga, meditation and sound by the coast.

The money raised by the event was donated to The Cookie Jar Foundation - which was set up in memory of Christopher ‘Cookie’ Coutts, who passed away at the age of 19 after a two-year battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2013, by his mother, Debbie, and is devoted to providing vein-finders for nearby hospitals.

Amy told the Press: "Organisations such as Debbie’s are really close to my heart because of my daughter. She has had quite severe sickness in the past, she's had meningitis and she's had sepsis a few times and finding veins was always a real issue for her.

"Debbie's story really resonated with me, the challenges that her son had gone through and his mission to take the stress and anxiety out of vein-finding procedures, whether it was for intravenous drugs or chemotherapy, and certainly it has made my daughter's life easier.

"In my daughter's situation, she was left with a needle phobia, having had a number of unsuccessful attempts at vein finding.

"I think these pieces of equipment just make life so much easier for everybody involved and they really do eliminate a lot of the distress and anxiety caused, not just for the children but for everybody."

While Amy was originally going to do the whole evening herself, Susan from The Breath Alchemist, Emily from Crystalight Candles and Jane from Jane MacDonald holistic practitioner and mentor, all came together in the end to put on a "magical" evening.

Amy added: "It was just magical, it really was. It was just the most beautiful atmosphere and everybody brought their beautiful energies along.

"I’d never taught yoga outdoors previously and it just felt so powerful being by the sea and having this combined energy both of the group but also the other people that got involved."

Debbie attended the event as a representative of the Foundation and was blown away by the atmosphere on the beach.

She said: "The amount of people that turned up was just fantastic. We were down there representing the charity and it was an absolutely fantastic ambience down on the beach, it was really great and it was a fantastic evening."

A total of 30 people attended the session and they received a lovely sign in the form of a rainbow over the bay.

Debbie added: "It had been raining right up until near enough 7 o'clock when it was due to start and we thought 'Nobody's going to turn up and it’s going to be an absolute nightmare.

"Then bang on 7 o'clock out came a rainbow which is a part of our logo and we see that as a sign from Christopher and it came and it spanned the whole of the bay."
