A COLLECTION centre for West Fifers who have not yet received their postal vote will open in Dunfermline this morning.

Following delays across the country, Fife Council says it is doing its "very best" to make sure everyone gets the chance to vote in the UK Parliamentary Election tomorrow (Thursday).

All postal vote packs were dispatched by June 26 and the local authority say most should have now been delivered but have offered fresh advice to anyone who is still waiting.

Collections centres will be open from 10am today (Wednesday) at the City Chambers in Dunfermline as well as Kirkcaldy's Town House and Cupar's County Buildings.

Fife Council's Fife House in Glenrothes will also be open to have replacement postal vote packs issued right up until the deadline of 5pm on the day of poll.

Anyone in need of a replacement is asked to email postals@fife.gov.uk in advance and voters will be given a time to collect their replacement packs to avoid waiting.

You can walk in but council officials may not be able to issue a pack immediately. Identification is required for those seeking a replacement pack.

When a replacement pack is issued, the original code on the vote is cancelled so there's no possibility of anyone voting twice. Voters must use their replacement pack to vote as your original pack will be cancelled if there has been a replacement ordered.

Postal votes don't have to be posted back, they can be taken to any polling station on July 4, or handed in to the Returning Officer at Fife House during office hours up to the end of Thursday.

Postal votes can be taken by someone on your behalf as long as you comply with the rules for handing in votes. You must speak to a member of the elections team or the team at the polling station and complete a Postal Return Form if you hand postal votes in. If you just leave the envelope your vote cannot be counted.
