THE second phase of the roadworks being carried out at the Bothwell Gardens roundabout in Dunfermline will begin on Monday.

The progress will mean the four-way temporary traffic lights will reduce to three-way with Woodmill Street closing to through traffic.

The traffic management layout will be changed during the day on Sunday.

Access will be maintained to Woodmill Street and Woodmill Street car park but no traffic will be able to access Bothwell Gardens roundabout from Woodmill Street. A signed diversion will be in place during phase two.

"We are working hard getting Dunfermline ready for developments happening in and around the city over the next few years.

"We're sorry for the disruption on Tuesday afternoon when all lights were red – this was to allow safe working in an area that extended just beyond the working zone. This was a one time incident and all works will remain within the traffic managed area.

"We’re continuing to work with the contractor to minimise delays, where we can. If possible, we ask people to consider alternative routes and to give themselves extra time for their journeys.”

Fife Council have confirmed all businesses in the area are open as usual.
