A FIFE gran has conquered the Inca Trail to help raise money for charity.
Sandra Thomson, 71, took on the gruelling journey to Machu Picchu as part of a team supporting the Finding Your Feet organisation.
The former Dunfermline Press executive secretary reached a height of 4,215 metres during a trek lasting four days and three nights.
As reported previously, she was spurred onto join up for the feat after hearing about local woman Marguerite Henderson who lost her legs and hands to sepsis several years ago.
Fresh from the adventure, Sandra was delighted have been able to complete the trek.
"This was by far the hardest challenge I’ve ever done! 3am to 4am starts, trekking up and down really steep and challenging parts of the Inca Trail and not getting into camp till dark - exhausted and sore and doing it all over again day after day," she said.

"The upside of that was the incredible scenery along the way. We spotted an Andean condor, humming birds, lots of llamas and alpacas and the occasional large hairy spider!
"I made it though and finally reached the Sun Gate overlooking Machu Picchu. I did it with the most amazing group of people and together we’ve so far raised an incredible £66,000 for Finding Your Feet Amputee Charity.
"Thank you so much to everyone who’s donated, your generosity is humbling."
