POLICE Scotland has stepped up patrols in a West Fife village following an attempted housebreaking. 

High visibility patrols are taking place in Cairneyhill after an attempted break-in on Drummormie Road was reported to the authorities.  

Officers of the South West Fife Police are urging people to report any suspicious behaviour. 

On X (formerly Twitter), they wrote: "Following a recent report of an attempted housebreaking in Drummormie Road, Cairneyhill, community officers have been carrying out high-visibility patrols around the village.

"Please report any suspicious activity via 101 or 999 (in an emergency)."
