A FORMER rugby player is set to give being president of a local rotary club a try.

Mark Todd, who played for Dunfermline and North and Midlands has been elected as the new president of the Rotary Club of West Fife.

With deep roots in the community, Mark brings a unique perspective to his role, having once spent a summer as a roadsweeper in Crossford and Cairneyhill during his student days.

Mark was born in Dunfermline and attended Camdean Primary and Dunfermline High School.

He went on to earn a degree in Physical Education from Jordanhill before embarking on a career with the Scottish Courts Service, from which he recently retired in 2023.

A dedicated rotarian for nine years, Mark has been an active force within the club.

He has held various committee positions, including youth services, community and vocational, and fundraising.

His leadership skills were further honed as Convenor of both the membership and programme Committees.

As he steps into his presidential role, Mark is enthusiastic about maintaining the club's strong focus on local community initiatives and youth activities.

He aims to attract new members to the club, which meets weekly at the Keavil House Hotel, by showcasing the impact of their projects.

"I'm honoured to lead this fantastic group of individuals," Mark said.

"My goal is to leverage our collective experiences and passion for service to make a real difference in West Fife.

"From my days as a roadsweeper to my time on the rugby field, I've gained a deep appreciation for our community's diversity and needs."

Mark resides in Dunfermline with his wife Fiona and their three sons: Calum, Matthew, and Rory.

"His family's support and his local connections are sure to be valuable assets as he guides the Rotary Club of West Fife into a new chapter of community service and engagement," the club told the Press.
