DUNFERMLINE's Outwith Festival has become one of the first arts festivals in the UK to include a homes and interiors lineup.
Hosted by BBC Scotland's Home of the Year star, Danny Campbell, the new and exciting interior design event has been introduced as part of an innovative programme by the popular arts and music festival.
The talented architect and presenter will be showcasing some of Dunfermline’s coolest homes alongside properties in Edinburgh and Perthshire.
Festival Programmer, Jane Livingstone, who is organising the events with Neneh Rowa-Dewar, one of our Instagram design enthusiasts, said: “We had the idea for an interiors strand last year. So many people who are creative don’t get the chance to study art or design in a formal way.
"For them, designing a home is a very accessible and often undervalued way of being creative. Having the money to see ideas through is another challenge which is why we’ve come up with recycling and thrifting events."
On Sunday, September 8, audiences will hear interior Instagram creators' top tips for renovating and decorating their homes along with lessons learned from decorating regrets.
As well as the panel discussion event with Danny there are four other events led by designers including one by Rachel Henderson.
With nearly 200,000 followers, the BBC One’s ‘Money for Nothing’ artisan, and runner-up in Scotland’s Home of the Year, will share her top tips and tricks at an upcycling furniture workshop on Friday, September 6.
With a background in textile design and surface decoration, Rachel has authored and contributed to numerous titles and presented on stage at shows and events across the UK.
How to create original interiors for less as well as doing your bit for the planet is the theme of the Thrifted Home event on Wednesday 4 September.
Award-winning textile designer, Claire Christie, is passionate about reuse and upcycling. Her work has featured in galleries, interiors magazines and Scotland’s Home of the Year.
In this talk, Claire will talk about The Thrifted Home, how to find your style, where to find your pieces and how to style it.
Neneh Rowa-Dewar, an Outwith volunteer and the co-organiser of the events has lived in Dunfermline for many years but is originally from Sweden.
Her Scandi and British fusion-style renovation of her Dunfermline house has drawn many followers on Instagram. She added: “I love the variety of looks from all the Instagram creators involved. We have something for everyone from small flats to large period properties, maximalist dopamine décor to subtle and classic styles.
"Often, the smallest properties show the most inventive ideas. All ideas we present will be achievable with budget in mind and we will all be honest about our regrets so we can learn from them and laugh about them together.”
Another star in Scotland’s Home of the Year’s current series is interior designer Gemma Bertolotto.
Gemma is running two workshops on Sunday 8 September; ‘How to DIY your home with no budget’ and one on how to tackle the first building block of interior design, the mood board.
This year's Outwith Festival will run from September 3 to 8.
