MUSIC and dancing was on offer as the new owners of the former Erskine Church building on Saturday.

A Music on the Street event was held by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Covenant Restoration Assembly in Dunfermline who announced last month that they had bought the dilapidated building at auction earlier this year.

Passers-by were treated to songs and dancing as part of an outreach event aiming to raise awareness of the organisation and its plans for their new base.

Pastor Dr Oluseye Ogunbayo said the afternoon was a great success.

"It went very well," he said. "We had our church choir performing so all our members were there engaging with the public and telling them that we wanted to reuse the building and restore it to what it was.

"We met a lot of people. One person said they had wed in the building in 1977. Another lady said she wed in the building 57 years ago. They were very happy to know that we would like to restore the building for community use.

"We also gave them flyers telling them who we are. There was a lot of dancing and singing. We have created that awareness and why we are there and what we will do in that building."

There will be a chance to hear more of the church members' music this weekend when they hold a choir concert at their base at Abbot Hall in Wilson's Close.

All are welcome at the event which is on from 10am until 1pm.
