RAIL and photography enthusiasts can snap their way to a first class journey with a picture perfect competition.

Caledonian Sleeper, which lists Inverkeithing as one of its destinations, are calling on members of the public to capture views of the most scenic locations on the overnight train's iconic route, with a return trip on the service awaiting the winner.

Running until October 31, the company are looking for people to share images of their favourite view from their journey, or some of the locations and activities that the service has helped whisk them off to.

Up for grabs is the chance to enjoy a return journey in an en-suite Club Room onboard the Caledonian Sleeper, which includes dinner, and a £500 Amazon voucher to use on photography equipment.

The winner's image will also be displayed in the guest lounge at London Euston station, whilst they will also receive a virtual one-to-one sessions with renowned photographer, and guest judge, Tony Marsh, who has worked with BBC Countryfile, The Guardian and as group picture editor for Scotsman Publications.

Derek Thompson, head of retail and pricing with Caledonian Sleeper, said: "We often take for granted just how spectacular the landscape is in the UK, and rail travel is one of the best ways to discover it.

"As an amateur railway photographer myself, I love finding quirky and lesser-known beauty spots. I’m excited to see what other photography enthusiasts capture along the route."

Kathryn Darbandi, Caledonian Sleeper managing director, added: "Whether you’re a budding photographer, proud local or a guest onboard the overnight train, we’re inviting everyone from amateurs to professionals to take part in our celebration of our country’s beautiful landscapes.

"From shots of Caledonian Sleeper in scenic local stations to snaps of incredible or quirky views from the train itself, we’re looking for the most creative and inspiring images that truly showcases the relationship between Caledonian Sleeper and the iconic scenery we pass through each morning and evening."

On its routes between Scotland and London, the Caledonian Sleeper calls at more than 40 stations.

In addition to the winning prize, the runner-up will receive a £250 Amazon voucher, whilst the third-placed entry will receive a £100 to spend on the website.
