THE signs are good for an Aberdour pub that's been closed for five years.
Star Pubs told the Press in May that they will carry out a "major refurbishment" with the aim of re-opening The Cedar Inn.
They're still looking for a new operator but plans are continuing with Fife Council approving an application for advertising consent.
It will see 11 new signs erected at the pub - eight at the front and three at the rear.
A council report explained: "The proposed signage is part of the approved refurbishment of the public house and restaurant.
"The main signage replaces similar signs to an equivalent scale and design but with updated branding.
"The Aberdour Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan describes the buildings within this part of the conservation area and lists this building as the most interesting of the properties to be found on this section of the lane.
"It is therefore important to the character of the conservation area that the signage on this building is appropriate."
The signs will be illuminated by six new lanterns, 12 LED floodlights and string lighting.
The makeover is part of a £39 million investment by brewing giant Heineken who aim to re-open 62 of their boozers.
Star Pubs is the pub division of Heineken UK, which has around 2,400 sites, and planning permission to refurbish the Cedar Inn was granted by Fife Council in July last year.
A spokesperson for Star Pubs said: “Subject to recruiting a new operator to lease The Cedar Inn, we would like to undertake a major refurbishment to reopen it as a top quality pub with a fantastic food offer serving both the local community and visitors to the area.
"The plans would open up the interior of the pub, creating a beautiful open plan bar and dining area.
"The exterior would be completely renovated and there would be a garden at the rear with additional seating at the front.
"The new operator would have the opportunity to develop a letting rooms business above the pub.
"Aberdour is a lovely village in a stunning location and The Cedar Inn has lots of potential.
