PLANS are brewing for a micro-brewery at a community-owned pub in Culross.
A retrospective planning application has been submitted to Fife Council asking for the change of use of a first floor flatted owners' accommodation into a micro-brewery and wholesale use.
The West Fife Community Trading Ltd have submitted the plans for the premises at the Red Lion pub explaining the hopes to produce up to 320 litres of beer per week.
A planning statement explained: "The micro-brewery produces very small volumes, which are sold in 20-litre casks and bottles.
"These are currently purchased directly by three local pubs (including the Red Lion) with the pub managers collecting kegs directly from the premises or delivered by the volunteers.

The Red Lion Pub in Culross became a community-owned pub in July 2022 after locals and interested parties from further afield bought up shares through a campaign backed by Outlander star Sam Heughan who previously enjoyed a drink in the bar.
The West Fife Community Trading Limited was set up as a community benefit society last year to raise £800,000 with the aim of ploughing the surplus income back into the ancient burgh to fund local projects.
