A masked Dunfermline teenager who threatened people with an imitation gun has been sentenced to unpaid work.

In other incidents, he pointed an imitation firearm at a man’s head and had a machete in a Dunfermline street.

The 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted the offences at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

On 25th May last year, at Inchkeith Drive, he assaulted two people. With his face masked, he pointed an imitation firearm or similar object and repeatedly pulled the trigger.

On 31st May, at Bittern Court, he told a woman to stay where she was and he would not shoot her.

On the same day at Linburn Road, he assaulted a male by pointing an imitation gun at his head, threatened to shoot him and repeatedly pulled the trigger.

On 17th August at Linburn Road, and elsewhere, he was unlawfully in possession of a machete.

The court was told there was a background of drugs misuse.

Sheriff Krista Johnston told the youth: “These are very serious charges.”

She imposed a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work, two years of supervision and treatment for drugs and alcohol misuse.
