Nationwide say the sale of their former flagship building in Dunfermline is "progressing".
The building society announced plans in September last year to close Caledonia House, off Carnegie Avenue, and put it on the market.
At the time they insisted that no jobs would be lost, with workers relocating to a smaller site in the city at Masterton Park, on South Castle Drive, and the adjacent branch would remain open.
The property is being marketed by Lambert Smith Hampton, of Edinburgh, and on their website it says Caledonia House is 'under offer'.
A spokesperson for Nationwide said: “The sale of Caledonia House is progressing, and we will keep our customers updated as plans develop.
"The branch remains open for business as usual and we will continue to welcome our customers in Dunfermline.”
Caledonia House was opened just over 30 years ago by Dunfermline Building Society which was taken over by Nationwide following its collapse in 2009. It's within the Carnegie Campus.
The decision to close and sell it was largely down to occupancy levels that were averaging around 15 per cent following an increase in home working after the pandemic.
The sales particulars describes Caledonia House as a prominent and modern office building, dating from the mid 1990s and arranged over two wings over the ground and first floors with a central reception atrium.
The office space is more than 42,000 square feet in size and the site as a whole, including the grounds and car park, is almost 10 acres.
The asking price has not been disclosed and "unconditional offers are invited for the sale of the buildings and site as a whole".
The rateable value is stated as £360,000.
