A NEW barbers has opened in Dunfermline's city centre with a husband-and-wife team running the show.

David Gourlay and his wife, Amy, are now welcoming customers through the doors of their HI LO Barbershop on Bridge Street.

Originally from Broughty Ferry, David moved to Dunfermline about eight years ago after meeting Amy, who is from the city.

They previously had a business in Edinburgh called Backstage Barber Shop, but they decided to sell up and open up on the other side of the Forth.

The commute to the capital had been proving too much and they believe they have found a perfect location in Dunfermline.

Speaking to the Press, David said: "We just find there's nothing like what we have done over here.

"We just decided there's definitely a market for a mid to high market barber shop in Dunfermline.

"We just had to do it."

David will soon be joined in the shop by Amy when the school holidays finish, and she's also "really keen to get started" to make-up the barbering duo.

The business has chairs which they will be renting out to other barbers, and they are offering a range of services including haircuts, beard trims, under 12s cuts, and more.

HI LO primarily takes bookings for their appointments which tend to last for 45 minutes and they will be offering 20 percent off cuts for the whole of August for youngsters going back to school.

David said that while most barbers only offer 30-minute appointments, having that little bit longer in the chair can make a difference.

"By giving them that extra 15 minutes you can turn a good haircut into a great haircut," he said.
