ROSYTH councillor Brian Goodall wants to cut the speed limit on Admiralty Road due to the "number of accidents and near misses".
Reacting to safety fears raised with him by local residents, he reckons twenty is plenty in the town and backed proposals to slow down traffic on part of the A985, as well as Queensferry Road and Castlandhill Road.
In a post the SNP councillor explained: "For some time now, and following many complaints about speeding from local residents in Rosyth, I’ve been highlighting the need for reduced speed limits on some of the area’s main roads.
"In line with the Scottish Government policy to bring in more 20mph zones in urban areas, there is a plan to change a section of the A985 (Admiralty Road) trunk road through Rosyth to 20mph.
"There’s been a lot of concern about the speeds on this road, as well as the number of accidents and near misses, so I welcome this proposal."

Cllr Goodall, who has also been putting up 'pop up polis' in the town to encourage motorists to slow down, continued: "In addition to this plan from Transport Scotland, Fife Council are proposing additional changes to 20mph on some connecting local roads.
"Of these I’d particularly welcome the plans for Queensferry Road and Castlandhill Road.
"The issues with speeding on these roads are well known locally and these restrictions will, in my view, make a real difference to the behaviour of the majority of road users.
"These changes would be brought in from November this year through the use of temporary traffic regulation orders, in consultation with local councillors and Rosyth Community Council.
"After they are introduced, if they are to be made permanent, then there would need to be wider public consultation."
There are proposals to lower the speed limit on Admiralty Road - from the roundabout at the M90 to the roundabout at King's Road - to 20mph.
He's also backed the move for 20mph on Queensferry Road - between King's Road and Admiralty Road - and Castlandhill Road, from Admiralty Road to just past the entrance to Hillwood Terrace.
Cllr Goodall concluded: "Evidence shows that if you hit a pedestrian at 30mph, they are seven times more likely to die than at 20mph."
