UNEMPLOYMENT saw a slight rise in Fife last month according to the latest Department of Work and Pension figures.

In July, there were 8,150 people claiming Universal Credit across the Kingdom, one per cent more than the same time last year.

Work is continuing in Dunfermline and West Fife to see more people go into work and the DWP's External Relations Leader for Fife, Sue Jeffrey, said a range of opportunities are available.

“The Labour market remains buoyant across Fife with many vacancies across a variety of sectors," she said. "We have been upping our offer and targeting local employers to get them on board.

"We are currently helping Greggs and Babcock Rosyth. We have also got Edinburgh Airport recruitment and are supporting them with a variety of retail, hospitality, security and baggage handling vacancies.

"Job Centre employer advisors have been out and about locally, making employers aware of the free recruitment support available to them. Any employers who are interested should pop into their local job centre."
