A TOTAL of 15 headstones are to be fixed in an old West Fife church after they were found smashed.
Local councillor Sam Steele says she fears the stones in Carnock Kirk were vandalised.
The cracked and broken monuments were discovered last weekend and Fife Council have confirmed work on their repair will begin this week.
Cllr Steele said: "The feeling is it is definitely vandalism and not the high winds, due to the fact the stones are all facing different directions and some of them were firmly against the wall.

"The memorial team are going out to inspect the damage and re-erect the ones they can. I have requested the area is added to the safer communities patrol matrix."
Fife Council's bereavement services manager, Liz Murphy, confirmed they were aware of the damage.
"We've inspected the toppled headstones at Carnock Kirk and plan to begin the work of reinstating them."
