Hot off the press, Outwith Festival’s paper programme will be popping up in and around West Fife this week.

This year’s programme sees a number of firsts for the annual September arts event in Dunfermline, not least a new collaboration with the National Theatre of Scotland.

The festival takes place in the city over six days and is packed full of live music, film, art, comedy, theatre and more.

With sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Guardian four-star review of “June Carter Cash: The Woman, Her Music and Me” described the play as ‘act of artistic connection – raw, radical and revealing’.

Directed by Fife’s own, Cora Bissett, the play opens the Outwith Festival in the British Legion, on the New Row, on Tuesday September 3.

New for this year is an Interiors programme, with four events including a Sunday evening panel hosted by Homes Under the Hammer presenter, Martel Maxwell.

BBC One’s Money for Nothing artisan Rachel Henderson shares her top tips and tricks for upcycling furniture on Friday September 6.

And Amelia Bayler is joining Scot Squad star, Darren Connell for the Friday night comedy.

She is a musical comedian with appearances on BBC Scotland’s The Comedy Underground, Short Stuff, The Social and Sparks on Channel 4.

Amelia won best newcomer at the 2020 Scottish Comedy Awards and was a finalist at the 2024 Musical Comedy Awards.

New businesses have joined the programme this year.

Juniper Wine Café and Must Be Crackers Deli are hosting a cheese and wine event and the Seven Kings pub is hosting The Big Outwith Cultural Quiz.

Mid-century design, furniture and art retailer, David Walker of c20home is staging an exhibition of original 20th century French advertising posters, which includes the most celebrated French poster artists such as Raymond Savignac (Gitanes and SNCF).

It's free entry to the showroom, just off Chalmers Street, between 12 and 4pm Wednesday to Sunday, and the posters are for sale.

Outwith is a music and arts festival that springs into life every September.

This year the festival will run from September 3 to 8 and it's supported by the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust and Fife Council.
