A CRASH took place at Bothwell Gardens in Dunfermline on day one of the new lights being turned on.

On Wednesday, after weeks of roadworks, the signals were switched on and that afternoon there was a bump on the roundabout.

Fife Council had advised caution, as drivers get used to the new layout which is part of the £650,000 of road improvements in the area.

Service manager Mark Dewar told the Press: "We are currently in the testing phase with the new traffic lights at Bothwell Gardens.

"Part of this includes making timing adjustments to ensure we achieve optimal performance with a stable flow of traffic.

“We are aiming for the lights to be fully operational within the next week. This is standard procedure when installing new traffic signals on roundabouts."

Traffic lights have been installed on the roundabout, roads have been resurfaced and improvements made at the Elgin Street and Moodie Street junction as part of the project, which began on June 16.
