A PERSON was airlifted from a cruise ship off the Fife coast after suffering a medical emergency.
The Coastguard responded to a call out on Sunday, September 1, dispatching a helicopter to the Queen Mary 2 cruise liner at around 9pm.
The alarm was raised to Coastguard as the Queen Mary 2 was passing through the Firth of Forth, close to Kinghorn.
The Coastguard helicopter rescued the person and flew them to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, arriving shortly before 22.30pm.
Flightradar24 confirmed the helicopter responded to the call just before 9pm, quickly making its way over to the Forth.
A spokesperson for the HM Coastguard said: “The HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick conducted a medical evacuation from a vessel in the Firth of Forth, south on Kinghorn, on 1 September.
“Alerted at around 9pm, the helicopter and crew transferred a casualty to hospital.”
The casualty’s condition is currently unknown.
The Queen Mary 2, operated by Cunard, is capable of carrying over 2,500 guests and is currently on a 30-day trip.
The course started in New York before travelling to England, Scotland and Belgium before heading back to the USA.
The Press has contacted Cunard for a statement.
