CONCERNED residents have written to their local councillor after a hole in the road has been spotted growing near a playpark in Kincardine.

The hole, located next to the playpark on Standalane, has caused issues for residents since 2022, prompting several to reach out to Cllr Sam Steele for West Fife Villages.

Cllr Steele highlighted the issue, sharing images of the hole and pledging to work with Fife Council in sealing the gap.

She said: “Thank you to residents who highlighted the longstanding issue of the huge hole in Standalane beside the playpark.

“I was informed that it’s been like this for nearly two years and has been gradually getting bigger.

“Also given the fact that a road just around the corner collapsed previously, residents were rightly concerned.

“I contacted the service manager for transportation as a matter of urgency.

“She responded right away and the lead officer is going out to inspect the area.”

The Advertiser contacted Fife Council for an update on their progress in fixing the hole, only to be told they are aware of the issue.

Their response stated: “Sara Wilson, service manager, confirmed that she had been notified of the issue and an inspection will be carried out to determine next steps.”
