FIFE COUNCIL don’t believe that recent fly-tipping incidents in Rosyth are linked to the changes made at a West Fife recycling centre.
A controversial new booking system was implemented at Dalgety Bay Recycling Centre from July 29 - last week it was announced it will be scrapped - due to health and safety concerns with managing traffic in the site.
It coincided with a number of incidents of fly-tipping in Rosyth, off Ferry Toll Road and close to Stephens the Bakery's site on Primrose Lane.
The council's safer communities team, responding to issues at the former, said: “Unfortunately this has been an ongoing issue for a while now, and as far as we are aware unrelated to changes at Dalgety Bay recycling centre.
“We responded to original complaints and visited the site, and as far as are aware, made it secure to stop any additional dumping.
“If the site is no longer secure please let us know. Owing to the scale of the dumping and the complexity of land ownership, we liaised with SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency) who took on the case.
“We will ask for an update.”
