A Dunfermline Athletic fan has received a football banning order after being caught waving a smoke device above his head at a match against rivals Falkirk.
A sheriff told 24-year-old Jack Hamilton that he had put the lives of other fans in danger.
Hamilton claimed he had not set off the flare but had picked it up off the ground after someone else had dropped it.
Hamilton, of Stormont Street, Perth, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on 10th August at East End Park, Dunfermline, he was in possession of a pyrotechnic device.
Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said, “There is a historic rivalry between the participating clubs and significant animosity between sections of their respective supporters.
“In recent years there have been instances of violence and disorder associated with this fixture, both in and around the stadium and elsewhere in the Dunfermline and Falkirk areas.
“The fixture was designated as ‘Category B’, medium risk.”
