A ROSYTH councillor has provided an update on resurfacing works in Sherbrooke Road.

Brian Goodall posted on his Facebook page to say that a contractor will have to return to the area to finish the job.

The entirety of the road should have been resurfaced in August, but one parking bay was left out due to a parked car.

Cllr Goodall told the Press: “It was an issue with the notices going out, there were supposed to be letters going out from the council and some folk got them and some didn’t.

"There was meant to be a leaflet from the contractor and that doesn’t seem to have happened, so there was an issue with notice.

“There was one person who was away on holiday so I suppose you can’t really blame them for not knowing, so there was one bay that wasn’t done.”

The condition of Sherbrooke Road and the number of potholes in it was one of the first issues Cllr Goodall was approached about when he was elected.

He added: “People in Sherbrooke have been needing this road resurfaced for a long time.”

As previously reported in the Press, Fife Council confirmed £100,000 plans to tackle potholes, with Sherbrooke Road being included in the 2024-2025 programme.

Cllr Goodall is now glad that resurfacing has taken place, and that the parking bay will also be resurfaced in the next few weeks.

He said: “It’s what people here have been asking for, for a number of years, even beyond my election in Rosyth.

“There are other streets of a similar age that are needing a similar treatment.”

A spokesperson for Fife Council confirmed: “There were a few spaces missed because cars had been parked while owners had been on holiday.

“The contractors will go back and finish off at a later date.”
