MOTORISTS are being warned of disruption with planned overnight closures on the M90 motorway.

BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is planning to undertake essential road surface investigation works on two sections of the M90 at the M90/M9 Spur Junction 1A westbound onslip and the Junction 1C northbound offslip.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway during these works, however, we’ve scheduled this during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these investigation works.”

Work on the M90/M9 Spur Junction 1A westbound onslip will be carried out on Sunday, September 22 from 8.30pm until 6am with a full closure of the slip road scheduled.

A signed diversion route will be in operation for traffic travelling westbound. Motorists should follow the M9 Junction 1A eastbound onslip, M9, M9 Junction 1 eastbound offslip, Newbridge Roundabout and the M9 Junction 1 westbound onslip before re-joining the M9 westbound.

This diversion will add approximately an additional four minutes and 2.6 miles to affected journeys.

The M90 Junction 1C Northbound offslip investigation works will be done on Friday, September 27 between 8.30pm and 6am.

During this period of closure, the diversion route will see motorists follow the M90 northbound, M90 Junction 2 northbound offslip, A823(M), B980 and the A985 Admiralty Road before reaching the A985 Admiralty Roundabout.

This diversion will add approximately an additional five minutes and 2.9 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. All traffic management will be removed outside of working hours.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
