A DUNFERMLINE man sent threatening messages to his former partner and was later caught carrying a knife having just left a pub.

Mark Cook, 30, of Hawkiesfauld Way, was also abusive to a social worker and is now starting a jail sentence.

He appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Cook admitted that on 14th September last year, at Targate Road, Milesmark, he made threatening comments to his former partner in a voicemail message.

He had been put on a community payback order for that offence but breached it.

The messages sent to the woman included, “I’ll f****** see you the morra and your boyfriend”, “Just wait until I see you. Karma is coming for you, f****** rat” and “All your days are coming. I’ll f****** break you.”

He later told the police he had been drinking, had taken drugs and could not remember the calls.

Cook also admitted that on 29th June at East Baldridge Drive, Dunfermline, he was unlawfully in possession of a knife.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said that at 6.55pm police received information that Cook was in a pub with a knife.

They tracked him down standing at a bus stop and he was found to have a kitchen knife on him.

He claimed it was for self-defence as people were looking for him.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said: “He was keeping bad company.

"He had fallen out with people who were going to do him harm which led to the utter folly of him having the knife.”

Sheriff Susan Duff pointed out Cook’s behaviour during a call to a social worker in which he was shouting and swearing.

“He was threatening a female social worker during the course of her employment,” said the sheriff.

“It’s not a good look," conceded Mr Morrison. He described his client as being “quick to anger and struggles to regulate his emotions”.

The sheriff told Cook his behaviour would not be tolerated and jailed him for 10 months.
