AHEAD of the Fife derby clash the Pars have warned fans that setting off pyrotechnics inside the ground is "dangerous and illegal".

The club said that police will be at tomorrow's (Friday) match against Raith Rovers and supporters risk arrest and a stadium ban if they break the law.

Earlier this week a Dunfermline fan received a football banning order and was told he put lives in danger after being found with a flare at last month's match against Falkirk.

A statement from the club said: "Dunfermline Athletic would like to remind fans ahead of Friday’s match that the use of pyrotechnics is dangerous and illegal.

"Police Scotland will be in attendance at the match and anyone found in possession of a pyrotechnic device will be liable to be arrested and reported to the procurator fiscal.

"Any supporter identified as above, or who engages in unacceptable behaviour, may be banned from attending matches by the club."

There's been trouble at the Fife derby before, with fighting between a "large group of men" before the match in Kirkcaldy in March, two police officers were injured, and flares were set off from both ends of the ground.

A Raith fan was also attacked outside East End Park in January.

The club statement added: "Searches may also be carried out at the turnstiles for any controlled containers and pyrotechnics.

"Under the Sporting Events Act 1985, being in possession of a pyrotechnic device at a football match, or attempting to bring a pyrotechnic device into a football stadium, is a criminal offence."

The match is the first meeting of the season between Dunfermline and Raith and it will be screened live on the BBC.

The Pars can go above their rivals with a win, which would be their first of the Championship campaign.
