THE work taking place at Rosyth Dockyard has been recognised in Westminster.
Speaking on the UK Government's Strategic Defence Review – which aims to make Britain secure at home and strong abroad for decades to come – Dunfermline and Dollar MP Graeme Downie praised the work being undertaken in West Fife.
During Prime Minister's Question Time, he said: "As the Prime Minister knows, Fife has a proud defence heritage and in my constituency of Dunfermline & Dollar, that continues with the dockyard at Rosyth constructing Type-31 frigates for the Royal Navy and a supply chain of local SMEs.
"So will the Prime Minister ensure the Strategic Defence Review team visits areas of strategic importance such as Fife so they can engage fully with the local supply chain and ensure the SDSR supports Britain’s security as well as local economies?"

Prime Minister Keir Starmer responded saying the review will ensure defence is "central to security and to economic growth and prosperity."
He added: "The review will consult widely, including across the Devolved Nations and I know the reviewers will recognise the strategic importance of constituencies like his, and I will ensure he gets the chance to meet the relevant minister to discuss the particular issues in his constituency."
Mr Downie said Rosyth's "proud defence and security heritage" was continuing with the current construction project of Type-31 frigates for the Royal Navy and a supply chain of local businesses employing thousand.
“The future security of Scotland and the rest of the UK rests on the shoulders of places like Rosyth dockyard," he added.
"That skilled workforce is ready, willing and able to deliver that security while helping support and grow the local economy in Dunfermline and across Fife.
“It was good to hear the Prime Minister confirm that the Strategic Defence Review is keen to engage with businesses of all sizes to hear their views on how to protect our country while creating jobs and growing the economy.
"I look forward to further engagement with local businesses and the Review team in the future.”
When launched, the UK Government promised the review would put personnel at the heart of its future defence, strengthen homeland security and ensure the UK continues to lead in NATO.
