A HISTORIC Dunfermline pub could be turned into a flat if a planning application submitted to Fife Council is given the green light.
The owners of The Olive Tree, formerly the Auld Toll Tavern have lodged the proposals which would see the use of the premises changed from a class three restaurant to a flat.
If permitted, three bedrooms, a study, a family room, lounge and dining room as well as a kitchen would all be created in the downstairs of the property.
Back in 2022, plans were submitted – then withdrawn – to build a first floor extension at the pub to create a flat.

At the time, applicant and restaurant owner Ferdous Saberi Oskooi cited a “large drop in trade” as the reason for wanting to close the restaurant.
He opened Casa di Italia, the first Italian restaurant in Dunfermline, more than 30 years ago and followed that with Il Pescatore in Limekilns, the Pavarotie in Aberdour, La Caspiano and Ferdousio’s in Dalgety Bay, the Drift Inn in Aberdour and Hotel Roma in Halbeath.
It’s believed that a pub has been at the site on St Leonard's Street since 1895.
