An adventurer is set to stop by Dunfermline to share the secrets of an ancient Arabian empire.
Alice Morrison will journey to the city next month to recount her exploration of the Nabateans, a civilisation in the Arabian Peninsula during the Roman and Pharaoh eras.
Her talk will kick off the Royal Scottish Geographical Society's (RSGS) Inspiring People talks programme on October 2 at Dunfermline High School from 7pm.
Tickets can be booked online in advance at rsgs.org/events, and some may also be available at the door.
The programme runs 90 talks across Scotland until April 2025.
Ms Morrison said: “It’s a genuine privilege to be part of the RSGS’s Inspiring People talks, having just finished a new series for the BBC, Arabian Adventurers -Secrets of the Nabateans.
"In my talk I’ll share some of the secrets we uncovered, including discoveries about the role of women in their culture, how they built an empire through trade rather than war, and their penchant for ostrich feathers.”
Mike Robinson, chief executive of RSGS, said: "We are delighted to have Alice Morrison as part of the Inspiring People talks programme this year, offering a rare opportunity to learn about a civilisation that has been largely lost to time.
"Her insights will shed new light on the rich history of this fascinating region, and bring its remarkable past to life."
RSGS Inspiring People talks are open to all, with tickets free for RSGS members, students, and under-18s.
