POLICE carried out a stop point check in Dalgety Bay recently and found one motorist who was driving without insurance.

Officers were stopping and checking cars near the West Approach Road when they pulled over one driver whose vehicle did not have insurance.

Sharing the information on X (formerly Twitter), Police Scotland South West Fife urged people to check their documentation.

They wrote: "Is your vehicle insured? Response crews from Dalgety Bay recently carried out a stop point at the Western Access Road.

"Multiple vehicles were checked and one vehicle was found not to have an insurance policy. The driver was charged accordingly.

"Please check your paperwork."

Those caught driving without insurance could face a £300 and 6 penalty points. If the case goes to court, they could be hit with an unlimited fine and be disqualified from driving.

Police have the power to seize or even destroy a vehicle that’s being driven without at least 3rd party insurance.
