WEST Fifers struggling with their finances can get a helping hand with the launch of a debt advice service in Dunfermline.
Viewfield Baptist Church has partnered with charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to launch a CAP Debt Centre.
From October 1, the facility will offer free, face-to-face, non-judgemental debt advice and people in debt can also seek help at capuk.org/help.
Pastor Rae Mackenzie explained: “All the high costs are making life really challenging for a lot of people, with many struggling to afford the basics and stay out of debt and poverty.
“People can find themselves in unmanageable debt for many different reasons – ill health, job loss, bereavement, relationship breakdown, or just being on a very low income.

“Spiralling debt is often very destructive and can have a devastating impact on your entire life. It affects family relationships, health and can be very isolating.
“At Viewfield, we all care about helping people in our community who fall on hard times to get back on their feet. We want to provide practical action to help people out of debt in Dunfermline and West Fife so they don’t have to just focus on surviving but have the opportunity to thrive again.
“We want everyone in Dunfermline to know that our free debt help service is here and completely free of charge.”
Duncan Christie will take on the role of Debt Centre Manager for the Dunfermline CAP Debt Centre.
He said: “We know how much this service is needed right now in our area and we’re looking forward to offering free, face-to-face debt advice to people who would like some help to become debt free.
