A FAMILY-run estate agents has opened a branch in Dunfermline.
Home Sweet Home Estate Agents Fife already had a branch in Markinch, but it now has a second office in the city’s Chalmers Street.
Owned by husband-and-wife team, Scott and Shona Galloway, the business began four years ago before they opened the Dunfermline branch in August.
Speaking on how the business is going, Scott said: “Really well so far actually, we’ve got stock on the market, we sold our first house yesterday.
“That’s a pretty good turnaround in 4 weeks.”
However, Scott has plenty of experience in the industry.
He told the Press: “I have been an estate agent for 24 years now, I worked at Your Move Estate Agents latterly as an area director for Scotland, but I wasn’t home much.
“Just before Covid kicked in, my wife and I agreed it was time for me to leave Your Move - everybody thought I was crazy.”

At the time, their daughter was just eight years old, and Scott wanted more of a work-life balance to spend more time with his family.
The opportunity to open an office in Dunfermline came up recently. The new premises is in partnership with John W Gilbertson Solicitors (owned by Tom Gilbertson), along with Bee Mortgage Wise, so three services are all under one roof.
Shona’s sister, Lorraine Doig, is the Dunfermline branch’s office manager. She previously worked for a bank for 30 years before leaving earlier this year.
Speaking on working with his family, Scott commented: “It was just a good fit, it’s a strange one but it works for us.
“We all kind of come together to make sure the business works.”
If the duo were to open another shop, Scott says they would look at North East or East Fife for their next premises.
He adds that Home Sweet Home is “family run” and “independent”.
“That’s what customers are looking for coming out of Covid. People are looking for that one to one service, that face to face element.
“Picking up the phone and having a conversation is really important.
“That’s why we are different, spending that time with customers, it’s about doing a really good job.”
