WITH the shocking announcement that the Christie's Scottish Tapas restaurant in Dunfermline has entered voluntary liquidation, many people have been left with questions.

Are they still open? What does this mean for your bookings and gift vouchers?

Here's what we know about the closure.

How long has Christie's been open?

The Scottish Tapas restaurant first opened in the Fife Leisure Park in 2022, after the success of its Falkirk branch.

In fact only a few months before the closure the Falkirk branch was named Scottish Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Restaurant Awards 2024, and later the Best Restaurant Team at the Scottish Hospitality Awards.

Why has Christie's in Dunfermline closed?

While efforts to reach the owners have been made, there has been no statement from them so far.

However, after just two years of trading in the city, the company has entered into creditors' voluntary liquidation. This would suggest that there were debts to be paid for the restaurant.

Has Christie's also closed in Falkirk?

According to reports, the Falkirk branch on Manor Street, has also closed its doors for good.

This was reportedly due to rising costs and rent.

What does creditors' voluntary liquidation mean?

This is when a company cannot pay their debts, so shareholders agree to dissolve the company and use the assets to pay what they are due.

What does this mean for bookings and gift vouchers?

It appears that any future bookings will not be fulfilled, and it seems unlikely that vouchers will be refunded, and efforts by the Press to contact Christie's through via phone (01383 668888) have so far gone unanswered.

What does this mean for Dunfermline and the Fife Leisure Park?

While this is a blow for Dunfermline and the Leisure Park, businesses are continuing to open up in the city. Popular restaurant chain, Five Guys, is set to open up in the Leisure Park this month.

So there are still positive things to look forward to for local diners, and who knows? The new jobs may help those who find themselves out of work after the demise of Christie's.
