A PROGRAMME of closures and works is set to take place on the M90 this month.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will be carrying out these works, both northbound and southbound this October.

The first closure will take place on Thursday, October 3 from 8:30pm to 6am between Junctions 1B and 1C northbound to investigate the condition of the road.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway during these works, however, we’ve scheduled this during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these investigation works.”

A signed diversion route will be in place for traffic travelling northbound at the Ferrytoll Junction via the B981, Milne Road, Barham Road, Millenium Avenue, Castle Road and the A895 Admiralty Road before reaching the A985 Admiralty Roundabout. The diversion will add an estimated 6 minutes and 2.1 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times and all traffic management will be removed outside of the scheduled working hours.

A second closure will take place between Junction 2 and Junction 2 Southbound Off Slip between 8 pm to 6 am from Monday, October 14 for 4 nights, completing on October 17.

The A92 Southbound on slip will be closed with a signed diversion will be in place between Halbeath Junction and Admiralty Junction with traffic diverted via Sandpiper Drive, Lapwing Drive, St Margarets Roundabout, Pitreavie Roundabout, Kings Road and the A985.

This diversion will add approximately 11 minutes and 2 miles to affected journeys.

Mr Deans added: “These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracking, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists."

Finally, a third closure will take place between Junctions 2 and 3 between the hours of 8 pm and 6am from Monday, October 21 for 5 nights, completing on Friday, October 25.

A signed diversion will be in place between Masterton Junction 2 Northbound Off Slip and Halbeath Junction 3 Northbound Onslip, diverting traffic via the A823, Queensferry Road, Carnegie Avenue, Sandpiper Drive and Sanderling Way.

This diversion will add approximately 8 minutes and 1.7 miles to affected journeys.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date information and allowing extra time for their journey.
