A Dunfermline woman spat in the eyes of a female police officer who was trying to help her.
Chantall Sneddon, 21, of Haig Crescent, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing.
She admitted that on April 7 last year at Winterthur Lane, Dunfermline, she assaulted a female police officer by spitting on her face and struck her on the body with her knee.
Depute fiscal Christine Allan said Sneddon’s mother had asked for the police’s assistance as her daughter had been drinking and was intoxicated near the Tesco store.
When officers found her, she was screaming at her mum and then spat in the face of an officer before kicking her.
Defence solicitor Alan Davie said, “She was heavily intoxicated, got into an argument with a friend and then her mother was contacted.
“The police were called but she was too drunk to realise they were there to help her. She reacted appallingly and she’s very apologetic.”
Sheriff Krista Johnston told the first-time offender her behaviour had been “absolutely appalling and quite disgusting”.
She imposed a community payback order with 130 hours of unpaid work.
