Two young Dunfermline entrepreneurs have achieved their dream of owning a popular café in the city centre.

Josh Young and Mollie Bar are the new owners of Café Wynd, which opens back up for business on Thursday.

The pair already have nine years of combined experience working in the café, and each bring a different skillset to the table.

Mr Young said: “I’ve been working in kitchens since I left school. I started as a KP and worked my way up through every role.

"Molly knows what she’s doing with the front of house and barista stuff, and I’ve got the kitchen.

“We’re not going to change anything drastically because the place is already doing well. We’ll change the menu a wee bit, but sticking with some classics of course, and we’ll be focusing more on seasonality with our menu.”

“Going into this feels natural for us. We’ve worked together in this café for so long that it just seems like the next step. “

Miss Barr added: “It’s such a treasure, and a thriving little café.

“We have people that come in every single day. We’ve watched regulars have babies and their kids grow up knowing us, it’s mental. Lots of people have been here from the start or even followed us from other jobs."

Full of praise for the former owners Stewart and Lynva, Mr Young said: “They put a lot of trust in us, really just leaving us to do our own thing, which in a way taught us a lot about making decisions.”

Miss Barr went on to say: “It can take like five or six years for a business to take off, and we’re kind of just taking it over at the best time.”

We’ve basically worked our way up to the point that everything’s a best seller.”

In a farewell social media post, Stewart and Lynva said: “Josh and Mollie are relentlessly hard working, creative, and passionate about what they do. Greater things are coming to ten Cross Wynd, and we will be right behind them.”

Josh and Mollie hope to bring more evening events to the café including music and cocktail nights.
