A Cowdenbeath man assaulted his partner by punching her and then tried to headbutt a police officer.

Michael Traynor, 35, of Copeland Crescent, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing.

He admitted that on 17th June last year at Beechbank Crescent, Kelty, he assaulted his partner by repeatedly pushing her, causing her to fall to the ground, and punched her on the head to her injury.

He also assaulted a police officer by attempting to headbutt him.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said Traynor was “heavily intoxicated” at the time of the incident.

Defence solicitor Elaine Buist said: “The relationship is now over and he’s had no contact with her.”

Sheriff Garry Sutherland imposed a community payback order with 100 hours of unpaid work. He had also imposed a two-year non-harassment order.
