WORK HAS finally begun on a new play area in Dunfermline.
This comes after a mum called for something to be done with the “depressing” Paton Street playpark near her home.
As previously reported in the Press back in August 2022, Claire Robertson, who lives in Lauder Street, said they had been told of plans to update and brighten up the facility.
However, local children were still waiting for any work to be carried out.
There was also previously a consultation so people could have their say on what could be done with the greenspace on Paton Street.

Cllr Gordon Pryde posted on his Facebook page: “Terrific to see that the contractor is now on site at the playpark at Paton Street.
“The work will take place over the next six weeks and the much needed new playpark will be open later next month.
“As an aside the existing slabs will be lifted over the next couple of days and if anyone wishes some slabs then the contractor is happy to have them taken away.
"There will be around 300 and they will be available from early next week.”
Parks development officer Clair Lovett confirmed: "Construction has officially started on a brand new play area at Paton Street in Dunfermline, promising to offer children and families a fun and safe environment.
"The new play area, set to be open in early November will feature state-of-the-art equipment including swings, inclusive roundabout and climbing unit.
"The design has been developed with input from the local community to ensure the play area meets their needs and wishes."
