A GROUP of retired and present Rosyth Dockyard workers have made a large donation to the hospice at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

Over the years Once A Dockie Always A Dockie have raised funds for a range of good causes including Women’s Refuge, the children's ward at the Vic, CHAS and Queen Margaret Hospital’s garden.

This year they chose the hospice.

Charge nurse Teresa said: "A huge thanks to 'Once A Dockie Always A Dockie' for their fantastic donation to the Victoria Hospice.

“The group - which is made up of around 2,000 ex and present dockyard workers - raised £640 towards the purchase of toiletries, fleecy bed throws and nightwear for patients.

"Tesco also topped it up by donating soup, tea, coffee, sugar and other toiletries.”

Members of the group had recently visited the hospice and spoke to Teresa to see if there was anything they could do to help make patients more comfortable.

She supplied a list of items and goods that would be helpful and within a couple of weeks, they had raised the money to buy all of it.

Last week 'Dockies' Ricky Tinto, Colin Stewart and Archie Frail made a delivery to the hospice.

The group also thanked Tesco and staff member Mandy for their kindness.
