A 34-YEAR-OLD Dunfermline man was caught driving when banned and a sheriff did not believe his explanation.
Gary Ross claimed that he had miscalculated when his ban was due to end but the sheriff said he did not buy that tale.
Ross, of Clay Acres Court, was back in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court where he was given another ban.
He admitted that on August 3 in Grieve Street he drove when disqualified and without insurance.
Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said, “It seems to have been a miscalculation about when his previous disqualification was ending.
“He wasn’t remotely diligent enough in checking that.”
The court previously heard Ross has a history of driving offences.
Sheriff Allan Findlay imposed a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work and a two-year driving ban.
He told Ross, “I don’t buy the bit about you miscalculating.”
The sheriff also warned him, “If you breach the order you’ll be going to jail, I’ll tell you now.”
