Fife Council has revealed the date of a by-election to fill a West Fife council seat after the previous holder was elected as an MP for Westminster.

The former Ward 1 councillor, Graeme Downie (Scottish Labour) resigned from the role after being elected as MP for Dollar and Dunfermline in the July general election. 

Now, the council is looking to fill his former seat in West Fife and Coastal Villages.

As of today, the council’s returning officer will be accepting nominations from candidates.

After the nomination deadline at 4pm on Monday, October 28, the council will publish the poll statements from all candidates and begin to publish public election notices.

All of which will lead to a by-election polling day from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 28th November 2024.
