A FREE interactive event in Dunfermline will address how technologies target our bodies and capture our data.
Led by experts from the University of Stirling, Our Digital Bodies - Biometric Technologies and Data invites participants to consider the widespread use of biometric technologies that can be used for a wide range of purposes, and its consequences.
The event, which takes place on November 2 at Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries, will also address the social, ethical and cultural implications of living with biometric technologies.
Dr Diana Miranda, Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Stirling, said: “Our everyday life is filled with technologies targeting our bodies and capturing our data, often without us considering the consequences. Our laptops demand our fingerprints, our smartphones unlock by scanning our faces and our wearable devices constantly track our heart rates.
“Through interactive activities and thought-provoking discussions, this event will critically assess the influence of biometric technologies, empowering us to understand its impacts on our lives.”
Booking is required and more information can be found by visiting www.stir.ac.uk/ESRCFestival.
