A new study is claiming that Dunfermline is the sixth cheapest place to buy a pint of beer in the UK.
Alliance online said that the average price of a pint of beer in the city is £3.40, compared to the UK average of £5.17.
It’s claimed that on average Dunfermline has the second cheapest pint in Scotland, behind only Kilmarnock.
Commenting on the findings, Rachael Kiss from Alliance Online said: “Our study shows that customers can still very much get a bargain beer if they look for one, with the cost of a pint varying depending on where you live in the UK.
“We were surprised to see such low prices in unexpected places that have well-reviewed local pubs. This is good news for locals and tourists alike!”
Those who want to find the cheapest pint in the UK should visit Wrexham, which has an average price of £2.00 according to the research, which used data from the companies Expatistan and Numbeo to determine average prices
It comes soon after the press covered issues such as rising energy bills and wholesale product prices, which local pub owners say are threatening the city’s licenced premises.
It followed a stark warning by accountancy firm Price Bailey which says that more than one in 10 British pubs are at imminent risk of closure.
Scottish Licensed Trade Association managing director Colin Wilkinson previously told the Press: “I’ve been involved in the licensed trade for over 40 years, and I’ve never seen anything like what we’re experiencing today.”
The cheapest pint of Tennents is a much-coveted title in the city, with two pubs going head-to-head to attract customers in September.
